In 2011 Durk moved to Nova Scotia and worked under contract with the Michele Stevens Sailloft near Lunenburg. While there he learned to build sails on the loft floor using traditional sailmaking and sail shaping techniques. One of the highlights was the sail project for the schooner Columbia.
New this spring is a suit of sails for a Drascombe Longboat Cruiser made of Tanbark sailcloth.
